Example – Won’t go Quietly
Example is a british rapper that i personaly find interesting because of his tyle of music and his use of clever lyrics, one of his newest songs called ‘wont go quietly’ in my opinion is one of his best along with the previously released ‘watch the sun come up’. Examples real name is Elliot John Gleave.
Born 20 June 1982 at West London hospital in Hammersmith, Gleave attended All Saints Primary School in Fulham High Street. He later went on to attend ADT College, Wandsworth (now Ashcroft Technology Academy). Gleave has claimed in interviews that the main reason he started rapping was due to his introduction to Hip-Hop through albums by Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dogg – the latter's album purchased primarily for "the cool cover art". Aged 15, Example entered his first rap battle at a house party in Shepherds Bush and in his own words "completely destroyed a useless wanker and a fight broke out so [he] sprinted home" . In 1992, he won Royal Mail Poet of the Year, winning his school a new computer. In 2000, Example attended Royal Holloway University, London to study film directing. While at University, Example started garage MCing to make some money. It was during this period that he met Joseph Gardner AKA Rusher, the producer with whom he would later go on to work with. Example and Rusher made a concept album in the audio booth of the University film department which included the track that would go onto be Example's first white-label vinyl release, "A Pointless Song".
The song is a dance track meant for clubs, night clubs and other of the same variety, I’m not to sure what the song is about but then again I’m not sure it really has a meaning behind it, it simply contains a decent beat with clever put together vocals which makes the song.
I personally like the song because it has an upbeat style to it that makes you want to go out, and also the lyrics are catchy an draw your attention.
The thing i don’t like about the song however is that I think it’s too short and i think it would be better if they had made the song a little longer as this song is only around three minutes long.
My overall opinion of the song is good, i like the song and I don’t think i can find many things wrong with it, as previously mentioned i liked the lyrics and the beat, he’s a unique artists and i enjoy quite a few of his songs.
My rating on this song is a decent eight out of ten, i think there’s definitely things that could have been allot better.
